Kate Campbell Deglans is the conductor of the Cantus Medius, the middle school chorus of the Choralis Youth Choirs. As one of the founding directors, she is excited to be back for the program's third season. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, with an emphasis in education. While there, she sang primarily with the University Chamber Singers, including performances at Carnegie Hall, the Kansas City (Mo.) Early Music Festival, and the 2005 Virginia Music Educators Association conference. She has studied conducting with James Glazebrook and Brian Gendron, and voice with Nancy McDuffie. During her collegiate years, she was a member and officer of her student chapters of the Music Educators National Conference, and the American Choral Directors' Association.

Ms. Campbell Deglans currently teaches music at Liberty Elementary School and Dominion Trail Elementary School in Loudoun County. She sings with Choralis and Ēchos, as well as the Alexandria Choral Society, and plays trombone in the Main Street Community Band.
